Socrates and Jesus

In some aspects, Socrates have in common with Jesus.
Both Jesus and Socrates is a character full of puzzles, as well as for their contemporaries. None of those who wrote his own teachings. Socrates life only we can know through the writings of Plato, that one of his students. So we are forced to trust image of them from their students.
They both are experts in the art of discussion. Jesus always managed to embarrass the Scribes, while Socrates discussions with officials in Athens against Social laws in force. They both spoke with confidence that lure everyone, but also annoying people.
And equally important, they both believe that they are speaking on behalf of something greater than themselves. Socrates claimed that he kept the voice of truth which he called "Divine Voice" in him.
And finally their activities resulted in them losing their lives. Jesus was killed on the Cross, while Socrates was forced to drink poison as punishment because they had opposed a Greek god and create new gods. They both can save themselves from punishment by pleading for mercy. Jesus may I appeal to the Father to save him and punish those who had punished him. Socrates can request legal relief by agreeing to leave Athens so he survived. However, they feel has a mission that is doomed to fail unless they remain true to the founding until the end of life. And to meet death with courage, they managed to get many followers, also after they died.
I do not mean to suggest that Jesus and Socrates are the same. I just wanted to, indicating the fact that they both have a message that is closely associated with personal courage them.
